PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Sprinker Recreation Center is a heavily used regional park built in the 1970s, and its aging infrastructure required a modern upgrade to meet the needs of a growing, younger community. RWD partnered with Pierce County to lead the master planning effort, conduct public outreach, secure grant funding, and deliver Phase 1 improvements. The project received funding from three RCO programs, WWRP, LWCF, and YAF, and introduced a new splash pad, playground, sport courts, trails, synthetic turf fields, and Washington’s first outdoor public futsal court. RWD is now under contract to convert the remaining natural turf fields into full synthetic multi-purpose fields. The project required seamless coordination across multiple disciplines, including architecture, civil engineering, surveying, geotechnical engineering, traffic engineering, electrical, structural, and environmental services, highlighting RWD’s strength in delivering complex, multi-agency park projects.
